There are many possibilities for integrating EDI subsystems

Oracle JD Edwards EnterpriseOne is an integrated suite of applications comprising comprehensive enterprise resource planning software programs (ERP). A variety of possibilities exist for EDI integration of JD Edwards systems. In current versions, as a standard feature, JD Edwards offers the option of using XML interfaces that can be freely configured to integrate EDI subsystems. In practice, however, the configuration of these XML interfaces is often associated with considerable service expenses. Against this backdrop, many JD Edwards users rely on ASCII interfaces that are easy to configure and can usually be ported from the previous versions. These ASCII interfaces ultimately offer the possibility, appropriate for data interchange by XML container, of initiating the business process-oriented data interchange using EDI interfaces.

The most important EDI interfaces from and to JD Edwards are:

(at the customer end)

  • rcv PRICAT:  for taking over the item master data from the ASCII or XML format or for directly supplying the JDE database tables
  • snd DELFOR: for transferring the delivery schedules in ASCII or XML format or for directly supplying the JDE database tables
  • snd ORDERS: for transferring the order data in ASCII or XML format or for directly supplying the JDE database tables
  • rcv ORDRSP:  for taking over order confirmations from the ASCII or XML format or for directly supplying the JDE database tables
  • snd ORDCHG: for transferring the order changes in ASCII or XML format or for directly supplying the JDE database tables
  • rcv DESADV: for transferring the delivery messages from ASCII or XML format or for directly supplying the JDE database tables
  • rcv INVOIC: for taking over the invoice data from the ASCII or XML format or for directly supplying the JDE database tables
  • snd RECADV:  for transferring the inbound goods notifications in ASCII or XML format or for directly supplying the JDE database tables
  • rcv QALITY: for taking over the product-related test results from the ASCII or XML format or for directly supplying the JDE database tables

(on the supplier end)

  • rcv ORDERS:  for transferring the order status in ASCII or XML format or for directly supplying the JDE database tables
  • snd DESADV: for transferring the delivery notices in ASCII or XML format or for directly supplying the JDE database tables
Less complexity through direct database access

An additional alternative is the option of dealing with the relevant JD Edwards database tables natively by direct database access (normally on Oracle and MS SQL) in order to avoid complexity in interface configuration.
